A New Moms’ Group is Born!
Rita Perta at St. Justin Martyr Parish, in Unionville, has started a new mother’s group and it is off to a great start. At their first meeting they had eight women and the core team was made up of three ladies.
Early discussions indicated a possible need for a daytime group for young moms on maternity leave, so they are looking into the possibility of meeting that need.
This mothers group has a lot to offer! They have a lending library, snacks, prayer time (including the Rosary), inspirational discussions and fellowship.
Rita explains, “Our official patrons are Mother Mary…of course!!!! St Teresa of Calcutta and Maria Goretti, whose first class relics were displayed on a table at the meeting. These two Saints~ .one from a wealthy family, forsaking all, working to her dying day at a ripe old age, leaving thriving missions around the globe and the other a mere child of 12, from peasant stock, probably never ventured outside of her village~ are two saintly women, so completely different, except for one common characteristic: an undying love for Jesus!” Rita issued this reminder, “We must never attempt to be just like this saint or that. Imitation won’t work. We each must be who God created us to be. We must strive to make Jesus our #1.”
The group discussed being resolved to live out their love for Jesus this Lent. They want to really surrender and trust Him. They committed to showing their families by their examples what it looks like to strive to love Jesus.
The best moms’ groups have some themes planned for upcoming meetings. Here is the schedule for this group:
March meeting will be Wed of Holy Week… How will I make the Greatest Weekend of the year GREAT?
April, we will focus on LOVE, LAUGHTER, MOMENTS of GRACE: EASTER JOY!!
May, our theme is Mary, my Sweet mother.
June, our theme will be: God doesn’t take Vacation. How to continue growing spiritually. Find some ideas for summer in this link to a Station of the Cross article.
